Presidents Message:

Thanks to Carol Strong for providing the program for October.  It was an interesting survey and demonstration that we took part in and I personally learned about the visibility of wing icing.  I hope Carol will share the results of her survey when it is complete.

Next meeting:  I have twisted John Bakken's arm until he or his cohorts (Frank and Gary) will provide the program for November.  They will either put together a workshop or instruction session.  Since I will be out of town, John will conduct the meeting.  It will be held at the ISU hangar at the Pocatello Airport on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 6:00 pm.

Our December Christmas party and meeting will be on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 6:00 pm.  As customary, we will have it at AeroMark in Idaho Falls.  Please plan ahead for an inexpensive (Under $10) gift to exchange with the members and their families.  Also, bring a potluck dish to share as well as your own table service.  We will provide the Turkey and Ham for the event.

As most of you are aware, we will have two normal position vacancies  for officers at the first of the year.  We also have the remaining term of Jerry Phillips as Vice President which went vacant when he departed for Austria.  A month ago, I appointed Hal Johansen, John Bakken and myself to the nominating committee for the upcoming election.  We have discussed the position vacancies and wish to nominate the following:

    President:  Natalie Bergevin
    Secretary:  Dale Cresap

To fill the remaining year as Vice President, we have appointed Pete Stewart.  He will begin serving immediatly as an addition to his current duties as Secretary.

The newsletter editor is an appointed position rather than elected and I have asked Carol Strong to take over that position when Dale Cresap takes over as secretary in January.

Since John Bakken will be conducting the meeting on Saturday, I would ask that he also conduct the election, asking for additional nominations from the floor and the polling of ballots.

As my two year term comes to a close, I wish to express thanks to each of you for your support and friendship.  To Hal Johansen, I express my thanks for the training and example.  To John Bakken for his help with the finances and his tireless efforts to make sure programs are entertaining and worthwhile.  To Jerry Phillips for his help this year as Vice President.  To Pete Stewart for his expertise in the hangar as well as his secretarial duties.  To Dale Cresap for his monthly reminders for the newsletter and his hard work in organizing the Young Eagles projects.  I especially enjoyed the event in Gooding.  And most of all, to each of you for your attendance and support at the meetings, and for your help in promoting recreational aviation.

Austin Moses, President
