MEETING: Pocatello at the ISU Aircraft
Maintenance Hangar. Saturday, January 17 @ 10:30 A.M. This is our 2004 Kickoff Meeting and will
include a presentation of plans for each monthly meeting in 2004. There will also be a presentation of CHAPTER AND
YOUNG EAGLES SERVICE AWARDS. A suggestion has
been made to review the features of the Technical
Counselor and Flight Advisor programs which are available to EAA members. We therefore
plan to provide a briefing by a Chapter member(s)
who has those qualifications. Hangar
flying and airplane talk will be permitted as we enjoy refreshments. Bring a prospective member friend to this meeting.

From the Prez:
LAST MEETING:
Our Christmas Party was attended by some 50 souls. Special Activities chairman and spouse, Jerry and
Mary Ellen Phillips, did a yeoman service handling all the arrangements and preparing the
turkey and ham. They were rewarded with a
solid round of applause later on. Bill Smith,
who probably should be installed as our Chaplain, said Table Grace. In addition to ham, turkey and refreshments,
furnished by our chapter, all enjoyed a variety of pot luck items. This was followed by the White Elephant gift
exchange with Nolan Getsinger and his good humor, including red neck analogies, in charge. At the conclusion of an enjoyable party everyone
pitched in and helped with the clean up chores. A
special thanks to Steve and Lee Hildreth for their good help throughout and Bob and Jane
Hoff for making the AeroMark facility available.
PLANNING: Your Officers met on December 2, 2003 and spent
the better part of an evening planning the activities for our Chapter in 2004. Everyone, as requested, brought ideas and after
some brain storming and discussion we arrived at what we hope will be an interesting and
varied assortment of programs and activities. Rest assured your officers are dedicated
individuals serving and devoting their time in order to provide a rewarding experience for
the total Chapter membership. We encourage
participation and involvement by all members which is what helps make a strong Chapter.
THE YEAR IN REVIEW (BRIEFLY):
2003 was a banner year for Chapter 407. With
a particularly large member participation, strong committee leadership and dedicated officers we were able to achieve:
1.
Establishment of our own
internet website
2.
A newsletter published every
month on a timely schedule
3.
Minutes taken and published for
every meeting
4.
A computerized (Quicken)
financial management system for receipts and disbursements of our funds
5.
Not only meeting but far
exceeding our goal of flying 100 Young Eagles
6.
Tool Loan program formalized
with tools marked, categorized, inventory and status
controls implemented
7.
Active committees for Special
Activities, Library, Publicity
From my own perspective, as your president, it was indeed a
pleasure working with so many motivated, intelligent and talented members with a positive
attitude. The
camaraderie established by working
together along with seeing enjoyment on the faces of our members as well as those we
touched makes it all worthwhile. So thanks to all for 2003 and looking forward to
2004.

MEMBER FEED BACK - Chapter activities are basically and for the most
part adult oriented functions. If children are in attendance they
must adhere to the same meeting manners as
adults, e.g. remain seated, cause no disruption, etc. Furthermore, we are privileged to hold
meetings and tours on the premises of others. To honor this privilege and in
the interest of safety, security and
liability it is mandatory that the above rules are adhered to.

To the members of EAA Chapter 407:
As a member of the financial review committee, I have examined the financial records of the Chapter, including the record of deposits and disbursements for the checking and savings accounts. I found the foregoing summaries of financial position and revenues and expenses to be accurate in their portrayal of the Chapters financial status and activity for the year 2003.

Hal Johansen
For those of you who missed
our illustrious leader on the front of the Post Register in mid-December, I am attaching a
copy of the picture. The article was well
done but did not do Hal justice on the many projects he has completed. I think I can speak for the rest of the Chapter
members in saying that through his efforts the Chapter has been well lead in 2003 and I
for one look forward to 2004 and the activities he has planned for us this year. Well done Hal and many thanks for all you do
for us!
