A successful EAA meeting was
held in Pocatello on January 20 with good turnout in spite of horrible weather and
driving conditions. Those who attended can claim braggin’ rights for commitment
and devotion. I did not make it so I am basing this report on Natalie’s notes. Andy
was only a little late and gave a good presentation on avionics. Apparently it will
be mandatory for us all to bear the cost and reap the benefits of a new traffic
reporting and collision avoidance system in a few years. Natalie conducted the business
meeting and the officers reported. Old issues of flying magazines are available
for 25 cents. The old officers were recognized and the new ones introduced. Natalie
won the bring-a-buck contest. Calendars and patches are available for sale. Get
your calendars while it is still 2007. Carol is doing a much better job than I did
on the newsletter. Looks like the women are showing us up. Natalie has obtained
orange traffic vests for the Young Eagle ground crews. Meeting ideas are being considered;
get your suggestions to Natalie or reply to the questionnaire. Bill Smith won a
set of precision screwdrivers in the monthly attendance drawing; his reward for
braving the weather. Dr. Richard Sugden invited our chapter to Driggs to a fly-in
breakfast and a tour of the museum and side buildings; something to look forward
to for summer. Terry Bergevin gave a hands-on demonstration - using safety wire
for hose clamping. Bill Smith provided the refreshments. The next meeting
will be on Feb.17 2007, 6:00 PM at Aeromark in Idaho Falls.
